The Levesque Family

I have such a hard time making decisions, and I've had to make tons of decisions to get this family's session complete! First, I decided to cancel our first session due to wind and cold weather. (Which turned out perfectly, because the day of our rescheduled session was perfect!) Then, I had to make a last minute change to our downtown location, because my original location was so crowded that there was no where to park or even walk! (Which also turned out perfectly, because we went to Harbor Town where I found the most perfect patch of wildflowers!) Which leads to my last decision, and that is deciding my favorite sneak peeks for the blog. I can't decide on my favorites, because there are so many! This family is about to move back to Canada, and I hope I helped create some memorable family pictures in Memphis before they left.

What to Wear

Tons of people ask me "What do I wear???", and I am always happy to suggest clothing. So here are a few of my latest finds. My style isn't very traditional, I love clothing on children a little different, and I love bright colors or patterns.

My biggest find is of all places at Costco! They have some absolutely ADORABLE little girl's pettiskirts for about $15. I know these things are going to go fast, so if you have a session scheduled for a little girl, you need to run out and get one!!! Now!!! I think they would look so cute with her name monogrammed or appliqued on a shirt. Plus you can use them for dress up after your session.

I love this clothing brand: Tea Collection They have great coordinates for boys and girls, and I love their patterns.

I also purchase tons of items off of Etsy. It is an online community similar to Ebay, but with handmade items. I get all of my newborn props from there. They also have adorable jon jons, appliqued items, tutus, headbands, etc. I highly recommend checking this site out for ideas.

Lawson: The Big 1 Party

Just another thing that's been keeping me busy! Here are some pictures from my little man Lawson's first birthday party!

The invite from my favorite photo card designer. She also designed my Christmas cards. I love her stuff, and hope to offer some of her Christmas cards this year. This was my inspiration for the party!

The Lowry Family: 4 Month Session

This little guy is one of my newest First Moments babies, and since we got started a little late, I thought it would be best to make his first session a tummy session. If you've emailed me about baby sessions, you probably already know that I prefer to have 4 month old sessions instead of 3 month sessions. I think 3 month olds are still too similar to newborns, don't smile as much, and don't have as much head support. So I always recommend 4 months for a tummy session after a newborn session.

Well, a few weeks before our session, mom emailed me worried because little man still wasn't liking tummy time. I told her not to worry, and that I had a few tricks we'd try. If they didn't work out, fine, we could do other things also. So when it was time to try a tummy picture, we were all prepared to hear some screaming, and I was prepared to work fast. As you can see, this is what we got... all smiles! If you have a little one that doesn't like his tummy, try propping him up on a Boppy. It's great for tummy pictures and tummy time. Mom emailed me a few days later and said he's loving tummy time on his Boppy! Can't wait for our next session, thanks guys!

Summer Sessions

I have waited as long as I possibly could to post this, but seeing that my calendar is filled to the max... I am now booked for April, May, June, July, and August sessions. There is a chance that I may be able to take a few more August sessions, but I will not know until July. If I can, I will post a message on my blog, Facebook, and send out an email to my mailing list. If you have already discussed a date for one of these months with me, don't worry I will still be able to fit you in for a day we discussed.

As for fall sessions, I am only scheduling maternity, newborn, and birthday sessions for the months of September, October, November, and December. So if you are expecting a baby during one of these months, contact me as soon as you can. These appointments will be limited.

If you are interested in fall portraits or a family session, I will have a few mini-session opportunities coming up during those months. I will post information about these sessions at the end of the summer. I am really excited about my fall and winter mini-sessions, and I can't wait to share them! They will be a great way to still get pictures even if my regular sessions have filled. Please continue to check my website for more information.

I can't say it enough... Thank you for all of the support and help spreading the word about my photography business.

Happy Birthday Lawson!!!

Our sweet baby boy turned one today. He has been the most amazing addition to our family. You couldn't ask for a happier baby, and I can't imagine our life without him. I never knew how much my heart would grow when I had another baby. In between party preparing, I've been running through memories of this day last year all day today. It was one of the best days of my life. I love you Lawson!!! (I'll post some party pics soon!)

The Layton Family

This little cutie visited me a few months back for my Valentine's sessions. Last time I saw her, it was freezing, literally, so I was excited to see her on a warm spring day! She was a little sleepy and hungry, so we resorted to lots swinging and playing to catch some smiles. Of course, these are always my favorites anyway!

The Davis Family

What a session! This little cutie was not in a picture mood. I told her mom not to panic, that we'd be able to catch some smiles. It's very common for little ones to end up not cooperating, so it's become something I expect and I don't worry about it anymore. When she made it clear that she did not want anything to do with being confined for family pictures, we decided to go ahead and change her outfit to do some individual ones.

I absolutely love super girly, modern, whimsical little girl outfits. So when mom pulled out her second outfit, I was bursting with excitement and ideas for shots. Well, 30 seconds (literally) into the new outfit, she fell into a puddle of mud. Yes, mud! She was covered from her arms down to her feet, yet somehow she managed not to get a drop on her top. Luckily we had a towel and quickly got to work cleaning her up. We put her pants on backwards so that the mud wouldn't show, and we were good to go again. However, I guess when you are 15 months old, falling into a cold, wet puddle of mud is a little traumatizing and she had had enough. We finally decided not to torture her anymore and cut the session a little short. Sorry for such a long post, but I wanted to share my first mud incident!

Back to Work

I went back to teaching this week, and I'm somehow trying to figure out how to fit photography into an already busy day. Please remember to allow me 24 hours to reply to your email, but I'm trying to reply as quickly as possible. Everyone has been really patient and supportive, so thank you soooo much! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it, and it is actually going very smoothly. I am really thankful for my sweet boys for being so cooperative and for having the most fabulous babysitters! I am a little behind on packaging orders, so if you are waiting for an order and haven't heard from me, please go ahead and check with me. It is highly likely that I have it ready, and if I don't I may just need a little reminder!

I'm in the process of editing some of my most recent sessions, but in the meantime, here are some sweet pictures of Lawson and me that my friend Andrea took:

Nygren Newborn Session: Part 2

A few days after our baby session, I joined this family at their home to get some family pictures. It was warm and beautiful, so we spent most of our time outside.
