I got my Valentine's Day gift idea for my husband this year on a snow day. Both of my boys were home from school, it was cold outside, and I was thinking of something to do.

Soooo, what better way to spend an afternoon that take pictures?

My original idea was to take a picture of them in daddy's tie. But after watching several YouTube videos, I still couldn't get it tied right. So we moved on to daddy's shoes and a shirt. Here are my favorites:

I pulled this little storyboard together for him to keep in his office. I know it's a little Father's Day-ish, but I think he loved it!

Ok, I admit it. I am bad about printing my own pictures. I know, I know, shhhh don't tell anyone. This picture was from the beach 5 months ago, just got it in today. The frame has been sitting empty on my bookcase for 2 months. But it sure was worth the wait!

This is a mounted 20x30 canvas. It is framed in a custom wooden frame with no glass. My absolute favorite way to display a picture. Have I said that before? I love the texture of the canvas and the wood together. Glass would ruin it all. All of my canvases are coated to protect against UV rays and fingerprints.

My point in this post is... Don't be afraid to go big! Can you imagine a 16x20 in this space? It would be swallowed. Make sure when you order your prints to measure the wall and the frame. You want it to fit the space. If you have a hard time imagining what is too small or too big, I recommend cutting a piece of newspaper to the size you are considering. Hang it in the space and stand back. I've been known to keep that paper up there for days. Take advantage of your beautiful family portraits, display them, and enjoy them!

I absolutely love displaying portraits. I'm sure you can walk into my home and find my love for chunky wooden frames and pictures of my babies. It's the absolute best way to decorate your home, in my opinion. :)

FUMC Fall Extravaganza | Hendersonville TN Custom Portrait Photographer

Tons of people have been asking how the show went, so I thought I'd share some pictures. Last weekend I participated in my first crafts show. It was my first booth to advertise my business, and I was so proud of it. I'd love to have a cute boutique studio one day, and this is exactly how I have it imagined. I kept thinking that if you could bottle up my style and put it on display, this would be it.

It was so much fun meeting people, sharing my work and products, and hearing their great comments. The hubs is my biggest fan, so he came and helped out for a while. His background is sales, so I think he wanted to show of his skills. I left the booth and walked around for a bit. He took over and wore my Shannon Payne name tag. When I came back, there were literally swarms of people at the booth. It was hysterical, really. I wish I had taken a picture of it. I'm a lucky girl to have such a supportive (and talkative) husband.

All in all, it was a great show. I also had a giveaway for a free mini session. Congratulations to Scottie Hughes!

Favorite Product and a Sale: Photo Boards

I've posted about photo boards before, but I just wanted to share a new one that I just ordered for our new house. I have so many pictures, with so many more that I want to frame, that it's pretty much essential that I group my pictures. This is a grouping that I did with some beach pictures. I love the way the photo board looks with the framed pictures. I get tons of compliments when people see them in my home. The great thing about photo boards is that you don't have to stick to traditional sizes since you don't have to buy a frame. Plus plate holders are much cheaper than frames. So this is a budget friendly way to display your pictures also!

If you have had a recent session with me and would like to order your pictures or CDs for local pickup before I move, please place your order by 11pm on Sunday, August 22nd. It's almost that time!!!

In order to keep my print prices affordable, I will be adding a shipping and handling fee to all orders that are shipped. CD's and 5x7 prints will be $3. 11x14 prints and smaller will be $5.

New Product: Proof Books

This is another new product that I've been so excited to try out! I worked with another client to design these, and they turned out great. She ordered one for herself, her mom, and her mother in law. They make great brag books! I could definitely see these as a fabulous gift for new grandmas after a newborn session.

Each book is spiral bound and contains each image from your session. Photos are printed on the same professional paper as regular prints, and the book has a protective clear plastic cover. Each book can be 4x6, 5x6, or 5x7 with 30-50 final images. The price of the books range from $30 to $60. Prints can be upgraded to linen texture for an additional $10.

This book is 4x6 with 50 pages, black spiral binding, and black border around pictures.


You choose the picture for your cover and optional title.
